    Dear Parents

I hope you are all in good health and happy as we enter the warmer days and air conditioned evenings! It is a busy time for all of us with exams upon us, Ramadan  to prepare for and summer vacations to organise.

    iGCSE's and AS/A levels

It is examination time and our Grade Year 11,12 and 13 students are studying hard for their iGCSE's and AS/A levels.
Please ensure you are giving maximum support by encouraging them and asking about their preparation for their exams. Plenty of water and sleep are keys to success. Students should not be studying beyond midnight and an early start is much better that a late finish!
Exam results are available from the reception from 15th August onwards. Each student will have a login and password to access their own results. Students can come into school or ring reception for their login details.
    Options and Pathways
Students in Grade 9 are now receiving their Options to study for iGCSE's in Grade 10. Also, Grade 11 have received Option sheets for study at AS Level. Please discuss these with your child and feel free to arrange a time to meet teachers to discuss any issues, confusion or problems about this.
Every student at BISK Secondary will get a chance to improve their marks in every subject. They will complete three retakes Progress Tests in every subject over two weeks from 6th-15th June.
These retakes are for Grades 7-9 only.  Grade 10 will complete End of Year exams during this period.
The retakes have been chosen to give the students the best chance of success in order to ensure they improve marks and in some cases, progress to the next grade. It is crucial that all students attend these Progress Test retakes.
Please be aware that bonus marks are available for such criteria as excellent attendance, excellent reports and excellent behaviour. At BISK, excellent students with an excellent attitude to learning, will be rewarded.
One more really important point, After this retake period, no students will be allowed to do any more retakes in their internal Progress Tests. This is the one and only opportunity for all students to improve their subject averages.
Ministry of Education, Universities and Qualifications
We have continued meeting with Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and various Universities to build a clearer understanding of our qualifications and where they will take our students to in their future. All of the meetings have been extremely positive and we are grateful to all concerned for their time and patience. We are all trying to build a stronger future for Kurdistan and Iraq and we know our children our the foundation of this future. It is worth the time, commitment and energy we are all giving. Our kids are always worth it and we will not stop trying to make the future better for them at BISK and beyond.
If you have any concerns or issues to discuss then please contact the general enquiry number listed on our webpage. I look forward to meeting you.
    Yours truly
    Mr Kevin Tubb
    Head of Secondary
